Edward Rios has over 25 years of experience with expertise in production engineering, process engineering, and innovative energy technology finance. He currently works at the Export-Import Bank of the United States (ExIm Bank) serving as their Renewable Energy Senior Loan Officer. He advises ExIm Bank on ways of promoting the export of goods and services to be used in the development, production, and distribution of non-nuclear renewable energy resources, disseminating information concerning export opportunities and the availability of ExIm Bank support for such activities, and acting as a liaison between ExIm Bank and other appropriate U.S. Federal departments and agencies. His career began as a production/process engineer in the specialty chemicals industry. He later worked as an energy auditor where he provided energy efficiency recommendations to small and medium sized manufacturing facilities located throughout his home state of Florida. In 2004, he served as a technical consultant in the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Industrial Technologies Program, Office of Information and Business Management Systems, National Energy Technology Laboratory, and Loan Programs Office (LPO). Mr. Rios joined the federal service while working in LPO in 2010. There, he led the underwriting of loan guarantee applications received under the Nuclear, Fossil, Renewable and Efficient Energy, Tribal Energy, and Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing programs. He was also a key member of LPO’s outreach and business development activities. Following LPO, he served as a Commercialization Executive for the hydrogen sector in DOE’s Office of Technology Transitions. Mr. Rios received both a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and an M.S. in Industrial & Systems Engineering from the University of Florida.
