Alleima: Advancing the transition to sustainable energy.

Over the years, Alleima has built up extensive experience in the development of advanced materials for tubing used in for hydrogen applications. Specializing in tubular products for hydrogen production, storage, and usage, Alleima is accelerating efficiency and sustainability in the shift towards clean energy.

Working with customers to develop materials that move industries and innovation forward will be essential in establishing hydrogen’s key role in the energy transition.

Engineering customized solutions

Hydrogen embrittlement can occur in materials with certain microstructures, chemical compositions, impurities, or surface finishes. Materials must also withstand challenging environments like high pressure and corrosiveness.

For asset operators, refueling station owners, and hydrogen vehicle equipment manufacturers, choosing the right tubing materials that are strong and durable enough to withstand the demands of producing and distributing hydrogen can significantly reduce capital and operational costs.

Alleima materials, products and solutions are well suited for all parts of the hydrogen supply chain – from production and distribution to hydrogen usage. A key focus for the company is on processing, transport and refueling stations, where speed, efficiency and safety are critical.

On-site high-pressure tubing container

To help drive the growth in hydrogen refuelling stations, Alleima has developed a of micro-factory that can be brought directly on-site, manufacturing high-pressure tubes, tailored to customer needs, reducing waste, and increasing safety along with time and cost savings.

The Alleima Mobile Service Solutions miniature factories are proving invaluable for serving local markets by making it possible to fabricate and straighten customized products on demand. Digitalization and automation mean many of the tasks can be conducted remotely, with a much smaller labor force than was previously possible.

Easy-to-use precision monitoring and control allow any length to be cut.

Advancing hydrogen through materials technology

Alleima has a suite of materials that can accelerate the hydrogen industry.

Alleima® 3R60 is popular for hydrogen applications.  It’s an austenitic chromium-nickel steel with a minimum 2.5% molybdenum and low carbon content with high resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.

The company’s high-pressure tubes materials such as HP 120 and HP160 are characterized by high yield strength and high tensile strength in combination with high elongation. The pressure resistance is guaranteed by the very smooth inside surface. An autofrettage treatment prolongs the cycle fatigue behavior.

Seamless HP 120 is ideal for use in hydrogen production and is highly recommended for hydrogen applications.

Forged from the past. Engineered for the future.

With a 160-year heritage in advancing material expertise, Alleima is already supporting sustainable energy sources such as renewable hydrogen, pioneering advanced material solutions aimed to revolutionizing the hydrogen economy. Steel melting and hollows are manufactured in Sweden while tubes are made at the company’s production units in Germany, the Czech Republic, the USA, and China.

Alleima controls its entire supply chain from research and development through to melt and the final product. Using 80% recycled material and more than 96% fossil-free electricity in our sites sustainability is present in all aspects of operations and is integral part of Alleima’s commercials.

Our team is ready to push the boundaries of what’s possible with your green hydrogen projects. Speak with our experts on the Alleima (booth number) at the Hydrogen Technology Expo. www.aleima.com
