An EET hydrogen production plant will be built in North West England by Türkiye’s ENKA
ENKA is a Turkish manufacturing firm and they were recently awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Essar Energy Transition (EET) Hydrogen. This award was for the company’s hydrogen production plant based in the UK, specifically Cheshire.
This company, ENKA, is based in Istanbul and it is well-known as a global engineering and construction firm. They have built a variety of the UK’s flagship industrial projects, including Hinkley Point Power Plant in Somerset and Shotton Mill Paper Mill Factory in Flintshire.
It has been suggested that the EET Hydrogen’s HPP1 project, which is based at the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex in Ellesmere Port, will have a production capacity of an estimated 350MW and it will also have the ability to capture around 600,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year.
HPP1 and EET Hydrogen are key contributors to the HyNet Cluster and right now both companies are focused on advancing their goal of establishing 4GW of low-carbon hydrogen production. Doing this would have the benefit of supporting industrial businesses throughout the North West of England and doing this would be a major step forwards in the company’s drive around decarbonisation and economic growth.
Member of the Executive Committee at ENKA, Hakan Kozan, commented, “We bring expertise, engineered solutions and a commitment to excellence to every project we undertake. This project reinforces our commitment to supporting the HyNet Cluster’s mission of reducing emissions and fostering sustainable economic growth.”
CEO of EET Hydrogen, Joe Seifert, mentioned, “Having been awarded over 580 contracts in 57 countries, ENKA has an excellent track record in delivering complex projects like HPP1.”
