Hexagon Purus has had an order for their hydrogen storage solutions

A German customer has made an order worth 3.8 m euros of Hexagon Purus’ hydrogen storage systems.

The equipment that has been ordered is HPS’ picea, a product that was designed by Hexagon Purus, to be an electricity storage solution, based on hydrogen and solar energy. The product operates through a system that uses surplus solar power during the summer to produce hydrogen through its electrolyser in the winter, which results in the production of electricity throughout the winter.

The German customer is HPS Home Power Solutions AG and they purchased the device to use in its ‘picea’ product. The expectation is that they receive the storage system in Q2 of 2024.

Previously, Hexagon Purus has received an order for 9.6m concerning its hydrogen distribution systems. This order was made in December of 2023 and it came from a company considered a ’leading player’ within the hydrogen ecosystem.

This new order has come right after hexagon Purus, the forward-thinking company, completed the development of its expansion on its German manufacturing site. This site is dedicated to engineering and producing any products that are involved within the hydrogen infrastructure market. This expansion means that at the Weeze facility, their production capacity for their Type 4 high-pressure hydrogen solutions, has been doubled. This is an excellent step forwards, both for the company and for the hydrogen industry.

Managing Director & Site lead at Hexagon Purus, Matthias Kötter, commented, “Our high-pressure hydrogen storage systems are flexible and scalable, suitable for a wide range of applications, such as storing baseload energy from solar plants.”
