HRS will install a four-tonne-per-day hydrogen station for a European customer
)
An order to develop a “very high capacity” hydrogen station for a “major player in the sector” has been received by Hydrogen Refuelling Stations (HRS).
The agreement states that HRS will both manufacture and install a six-pump station, which will have the capacity of dispensing four tonnes on a daily basis, or alternatively, 160kg of hydrogen per hour. The company stated that this agreement is a “first in Europe for an infrastructure of this scale.” Furthermore, it has been agreed that the station will be installed within the first half of 2026, in a “major European urban centre.”
It was in the midst of a competitive bidding process when the company managed to secure the contract. Once it was secured, the company stated that their selection was made down to its “proven expertise and ability to design innovative, high-performance solutions.”
So far, it has been arranged that the new station is due to fall under the EU’s Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR). This regulation is responsible for the deployment of hydrogen refuelling stations, when it comes to both light and heavy-duty vehicles within all urban nodes. Plus, it also applies to at least every 200km along the core Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T) and this will take effect by 2030.
On top of this, it has been made clear that the newly adopted legislation needs each station to be able to produce a minimum capacity of one tonne per day. Plus each station also needs to be able to produce this with a dispensing pressure of at least 700 bar.
Founder and CEO of HRS, Hassen Rachedi, commented, “This first order of our HRS160 is an important milestone for HRS, rewarding the commitment of our teams to developing ever more efficient stations adapted to the growing needs of the market.”
