HydrogenPro electrolyser has been ordered by Andritz for HyTechHafen Rostock project

It has been agreed that HydrogenPro will be responsible for delivering a 100MW electrolyser plant to a green hydrogen project in Germany. This project is currently being developed by Andritz and it is located in Germany, specifically Rostock Port.

During this project, Andritz will take on the role of providing the green hydrogen plant on an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis. On top of this, the plant will also use pressurized alkaline technology for electrolysis.

It has been predicted that if the final customer does make an investment decision by the middle of 2025, it would be possible for Andritz to receive notice, allowing them to proceed with the supply for the plant.

Rostock EnergyPort cooperation (REPCO), which is a joint venture between RWE Generation SE, EnBW Neue Energien, RheinEnergie, and Rostock Port, made the order for the 100MW plant.

Altogether the plant for this project is for it to include offsites and utilities, storage facilities and a hydrogen filling station, the electrolyser and finally, hydrogen purification and compression systems. Right now commissioning for this project is on schedule for 2027.

After this plant becomes operational, the plan for the hydrogen that is produced, is for it to be transported through Germany’s Hydrogen Core Network (HCN) pipeline.

Managing Director at REPCO, Michael Wurzel, commented, “The 100MW electrolyser is the centrepiece of the HyTechHafen Rostock project, which aims to advance the energy transition in Europe. This is a crucial project for Rostock, reinforcing the position of the area as a key interchange for energy transportation.”

Executive Vice-President of green hydrogen at Andritz, Sami Pelkonen, mentioned, “We have always emphasised that no one can achieve the green transition alone. That’s why we are excited to see also major German energy companies and Rostock Port as a local supporter leading by example and joining forces to drive progress.”
