A new development of near-shore green hydrogen projects within Europe has been started by HydePoint and Norwegian Hydrogen. It has been planned that together these projects will jointly develop 10-40MW dockside.

Furthermore, it has also been planned that HydePoint will be responsible for providing its hydrogen production technology which is suitable for marine environments. On the other hand, Norwegian Hydrogen will bring forwards their expertise in operating hydrogen infrastructure.

To start with, HydePoint and Norwegian Hydrogen will work together on near-shore projects and from there, it has been confirmed that they will gradually move to exploring large-scale offshore hydrogen production. When the companies come to the point of moving forwards, they will begin to look at combining their work with offshore wind farms.

The partnership has made their focus on scaling hydrogen production clear, stating that “within a two or three-year timeframe, whilst laying the foundation for large-scale, offshore wind-integrated hydrogen ventures in the next phase.”
