In Q1 2025 Plug Power’s Louisiana hydrogen plant will become operational
)
It has been confirmed by Plug Power that the company’s 15-tonne-per-day hydrogen plant, is on schedule for completion in this quarter of 2025. This plant is located in the US, specifically, Louisiana.
This plant is based in St. Gabriel and it is now entering the final commissioning phase. Once this phase is complete, it will be possible for Plug and Olin Corporation’s 50/50 joint venture, Hidrogenii, to start operating the plant. These operations will use Olin’s by-product hydrogen from chlorine production, ultimately resulting in making it grey hydrogen.
Right now, a dry-out process is underway and this process will ensure that moisture and impurities will be removed from the project’s systems. Doing this will mean that the hydrogen that is produced is high-purity.
A huge benefit of this project, is that once the plant becomes operational, Plug’s total liquid green hydrogen production capacity, will have an excellent increase to thirty nine tonnes on a daily basis.
Plug stated that, ‘the Louisiana plant will support its plans to deliver hydrogen to key partners such as Amazon and Walmart.’
