Sungrow has expanded their electrolysis testing capacity in China to 30MW

Sungrow has made the decision to expand its electrolysis capacity at their empirical platform in China. The company has stated that they will be increasing the capacity to 30MW.

The decision to add a 10MW+ alkaline electrolyser testing platform was made when the company was searching for a way to “meet diverse needs”, whilst also addressing “industry pain points.” Along with this platform, Sungrow has also decided to bring in a 2.5MW PEM testing system.

It will be through getting rid of substandard membranes and also accelerating product iteration with virtual simulation debugging, that Sungrow will be able to enhance quality. Using this method, the company will also be able to reduce on-site commissioning for 1,000Nm3/hr units to under a week.

Altogether, the site which is based in China is home to six advanced testing platforms. These platforms include an alkaline and PEM hydrogen production system tests platform, as well as a PWM hydrogen production power supply test platform, a cluster control test platform, a test platform for key materials of hydrogen production systems and finally, a demonstration platform of renewable power-to-gas-to-power systems.

It is clear that Sungrow’s testing operations will work well when it comes to enhancing reliability with extreme condition simulations. These operations will also help to ensure 99.99% purity through the use of advanced power and separation systems, plus they will integrate AI-driven leak detection through using rapid emergency shutdown controls.

It was stated by the Chinese electrolyser manufacturer that their, ‘alkaline platform can achieve full-scenario testing capabilities, including stack testing (1,000-3,000Nm3/hr) and 4×1,000Nm3/hr multi-stack system coordination.’

An online statement showed Sungrow commenting that, “The upgrade of the base signifies not just an increase in capacity but a precise response to industry pain points. It aims to break through the bottlenecks of single machine testing and construct a full lifecycle digital verification system.”
