Technip Energies and Casale have announced a new partnership aimed at jointly licensing oxidative reforming-based technologies, specifically autothermal reforming (ATR) and partial oxidation (POx) technologies for the blue hydrogen market. ATR is a process that produces syngas, which contains hydrogen, carbon monoxide (CO), and carbon dioxide (CO2). When combined with carbon capture technology, ATR can become cost-effective for low-carbon hydrogen production, making it suitable for larger-scale facilities.

Under this collaboration, Technip Energies and Casale will serve as co-licensors of the technology and will offer a comprehensive package that includes Process Design Package (PDP), proprietary equipment, and entire plants. The ATR-based solution has the potential to achieve up to 99% carbon capture rate, making it a promising option for decarbonizing hydrogen facilities.

Technip Energies' two centers of excellence for hydrogen, located in Claremont, CA, USA, and Zoetermeer, the Netherlands, will work together with Casale to develop PDP for ATR-based blue hydrogen projects.
