Mr. Souza is the Functional Safety and Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity Lead at AcuTech Group, Inc. He is an Electrical, Instrumentation, and Control Systems Engineer with 29 years of experience. He holds several certifications, including a Professional Engineer (PE) license from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers (TBPE), a Certified Automation Professional (CAP) certification from the International Society of Automation (ISA), and a Certified Functional Safety Engineer certification from TÜV Rheinland.
Mr. Souza specializes in Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), Fire & Gas Systems Performance-Based Design, Boiler Safety, Burner Management Systems (BMS), and Industrial Control Systems Cybersecurity. He is a Qualified Course Instructor for the ISA and a Forensic Engineer with the Forensic Consultants of North America (FCNA).
Throughout his career, Mr. Souza has primarily worked in the oil and gas and petrochemical sectors, with more recent involvement in renewable energy, particularly hydrogen. He has been a product safety consultant for multiple large hydrogen electrolyzer projects. He has actively participated in the International Society of Automation (ISA) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) for the past 20 years, serving as a senior member, section board leader, and technical committee member for various committees, including ISA84 Functional Safety and ISA99 ICS Cybersecurity. Additionally, he is a member of the FBI’s InfraGard, a founding member of the ISA Global Cybersecurity Alliance (ISAGCA), and a board member of the ISA Chemical and Petroleum Industries Division.
