Maksim Sonin is an energy thought leader with global experience driving strategic, multibillion-dollar investments and executing GDP-affecting capital projects, with teams spanning 5 continents. He is a Hydrogen Projects Fellow and a member of the Stanford Hydrogen Initiative. Maksim has held executive roles and served on the Boards of several organizations, focusing on humanitarian and global energy concerns. This includes leading the development of the world’s largest plants for producing ammonia and urea, with the highest capacity per train. His expertise covers all phases from inception to operation, and major sectors, ensuring the satisfaction of multiple involved stakeholders, including governments and multinational conglomerates. He has worked at a consortium venture and collaborated with Chevron, Shell, ExxonMobil, and other global players. Having trained over 300 senior project professionals worldwide, he is showcasing his passion and commitment to mentoring the next generation. He has been featured in various publications and leading outlets, including Inc, Forbes, Nikkei BP, Power and others. Holding an MS in Management from Stanford University as a Sloan Fellow, a PhD in Engineering and an MS in Finance from different institutions, Maksim's academic achievements are further complemented by distinguished certifications in his field.
