Mr. Hartmann leads the Carbon Capture and Utilization Process Development Section at SwRI where he focuses on advancing and scaling new and innovative carbon reduction technologies. He has been at the Institute for over 17 years and holds BS and MS in Chemical Engineering from UT and NCSTATE in addition to an MBA from UTSA. He received the 2024 SA Business Journal’s 40 under 40 award for his work in supporting the development of sustainable technologies at the Institute and the surrounding communities. He leads a team of engineers, scientists, and technicians to support process development efforts in sustainability and decarbonizing industry with a focus on carbon capture techniques and carbon dioxide utilization. The CCUPD section provides process development support in the form of applied research techniques by designing, fabricating, and operating lab to pilot scale units that provide key kinetic and analytical data which supports scaleup and technology commercialization.
