Dr. Pejman Nekoovaght is a scientist at CanmetMINING. His background is in mining engineering and has obtained his Ph.D. in developing a novel and clean rock breakage system for underground mining. He has built a strong track record of developing innovative solutions to complex engineering problems across multiple disciplines. Dr. Nekoovaght’s career spans over technical consulting for mining technologies, research and development, and academia. He is currently promoting hydrogen-based technologies to the mining industry as an alternative decarbonization solution through the Canadian Hydrogen In Mines Advisory Committee streamlining hydrogen projects and developments aligned with a roadmap toward the Net-Zero Emission 2050 global objectives. Dr. Nekoovaght has also recently been named as the Chair of the technical sub-committee of the CSA M424.05 of the Canadian Standard Association (CSA) covering hydrogen driven underground mining vehicles.
